Description :

Green- Turkey Berry is a Chettinad delicacy. It is spicy with a slight lingering bitterness, which is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, a classic dish of South India (Tamil Nadu).






INGREDIENTS:

Directions:

  • Heat a clay pot or kadhai and add oil, mustard seeds, urad dal and dried red chillies garlic.

  • Saute well. Add crushed turkey berries, mix, and add a 1/4 tsp salt. Stir well, add asafoetida. Now add the ground coconut, chopped onion, tomato paste, fenugreek seeds and stir well till the raw smell disappears.

  • Add turmeric powder, and mix.

  • Add tamarind water and salt as per taste mix well, add sambar powder cook for at least five minutes in high flame.

  • Give it a good mix and let it cook on a low flame for 5 minutes, till it thickens and oil separates.

  • Now add jaggery, cook for a minute.

Take it off the flame and serve with hot rice and papad.
